When I grew up I religion was not a thing that was even really spoken of, thus not practiced. It wasn't until my early years of high school where I was introduced to Christianity. Over the years I would become involved in various things in that arena, and it did not fit with me. I always came to walls of hypocrisy, and many things relating to that made me fall away from Christianity. To be honest, I was anti-any religion for a long time.
Fast forward many years, and I knew I was missing something in my life. Basically I wanted a religion that had teachings I could believe in. So the way I found the door to my path was as basic as could be...I typed world religions in a search engine and started looking through them, when I came across Jediism. I'll admit I was skeptical at first, who wouldn't be? A religion based on the Star Wars movies? I was a fan of the movies, so I checked out the site where I met three people that changed my view forever: Master Keyan, Master Kyp, and Master Merin. I studied the Doctrine, the beliefs...everything, and it was EXACTLY what I had been looking for. So this was the start of my path towards being a Jedi, though looking back I could argue that my REAL path began when something inside was telling me I wasn't where I belonged in studying Christianity all those years ago. I came here because of the religion of Jediism. I know this site is not really into the religion part of it anymore, which is too bad, but that is what lead me here.

I know this is an old post, but I like to revisit the older stuff sometimes.
I think the story of Aang, from start to finish in this series, is a masterpiece and a perfect example of what the path of a Jedi can look like. His real journey begins with the fear of loss and responsibility required in becoming the Avatar. As the story progresses, he gains friends and abilities to aide him on what he believes is only to defeat the firelord. In reality he is taking steps on becoming a fully realized Avatar. He makes progress and has pitfalls setting him back along the way. Progress and pitfalls both happen based on what he learns (and those he doesn't accept) in this particular scene posted by Master Octagon. It takes him until the very end to fully realize what it is to be the Avatar. If this doesn't sound like the training and stages of being a Jedi, I don't know what does! (Other than from the Star Wars movies of course!!) I could not possible agree more with master Octagon on this clip being a great explanation of opening the 7 Chakras. I also think, when looked at as a whole, this series can be super beneficial in understanding your own walk down the path of a Jedi.

I think Master Scythe must have had a monopoly on apprentices while I was gone, I run into them all over the place these days! Seriously, though, I follow the temple page on fb as well. I don't really post anything there either. It is nice to see that the arms of the temple have stretched to other facets, though I prefer the site itself! Quote:
I'm surprised that you took a break at all! You're practically a fixture here :) I think what you said made perfect sense, Master Octagon, and mine was almost the opposite (but not really...) I learned to not be here, yet be here.

There are many reasons I have not been active at this temple over the years, though I have logged in from time-to-time to keep a sense of things. So forgive me in advance if this post does not belong here...though I feel it does.
I believe there comes a point in training, whether it is your own training, the training of others, or both, when the Force calls you to "step back." I say it this way because not everyone is called to step back in the same way or for the same reasons. Some are called to step back from responsibilities... whether it be training an apprentice, participating in committees or counsels, or some other form. Some are called to step back from the current training they are personally undergoing. Some are called to step back by literally (or figuratively since we're online?) stepping away from the temple. And there will be many other reasons and ways that one can be called to step back. I cannot tell you when, or how, the Force will call you to step back, but I now believe that it will at some point on your walk down the path of a Jedi. Not necessarily because you are weak, as many would imagine would be the case, but more so to further your understanding and "being" with the Force. The hard part is listening for this call and, maybe more importantly, following that beckon. Over the years I often wondered why some members leave, only to return again years later. At the time my thought was they were upset over some decision that was made by whatever governing body was there at the time. They would leave for awhile, and then return hoping either things would have changed or people would have forgotten. I also often wondered why some leave and never return. My assumption was they couldn't handle the demanding training that was required to be a Jedi. Don't get me wrong, there ARE those that fit the above, but those are not the ones I'm talking about. The ones I am talking about are the Masters and Knights that did great things while here. (I don't plug myself into that category, those who know me know I never have.) Now, I think I know a littler more into those mysteries....they needed to step back. The Force was calling, they heard, and they did. For me, I could hear the calling that I needed to step back from the temple. I assumed at the time it was to let what was put in place happen and blossom, to let others take the lead on new and exciting things. Maybe those things did happen, maybe they didn't....in the end I know my stepping back was not about that alone. My step back had to do with becoming more one with the Force. It's a simple and basic understanding of the Jedi, I know...but it is one that matters more than most others. When you can hear the subtle call, you'll know what to do....you just have to do it. I'm not saying I've mastered all that I was called to do yet, but I CAN say that I am more in-tune with the force and when it calls me to do something. This isn't meant to be a post on my own path, but more food for though on your own path. Have you hit a block or plateau? No matter how hard you try, is something not quite right? Are you pressing forward at full speed, getting things done left and right, but know....can feel...that you should be doing more? or less? Or just something different? Are you stopping and listening to what the Force is calling of you...truly listening with your mind wide open? We meditate all the time, which is splendid, but are we listening for what's calling to us? MTFBWY Ang
