Happy Birthday! I tried to post the other day, but the website wouldn't let me. I can't give you any advice about what women want because I don't believe in lumping everyone into one category. I find the whole idea of talking about "women" versus "men" ridiculous. There are different people among all sexes (and you do realize there are more than just women and men out there, right?).

In general I think that everyone should just be themselves and play to their own strengths. There is someone out there for everyone. In fact, there are several someone's - life is full of possibilities.

Personally, I have no interest in becoming a real man.

From the Jedi Creed:
Jedi respect all life, in any form.

From the 16 Teachings:
14. We as Jedi believe that love and compassion are central to our lives. We must love each other as we love ourselves; by doing this, we envelope all life in the positive energy of the Force.

15. Jedi are guardians of peace and justice. We believe in finding peaceful solutions to problems, gifted as we are we remain negotiators of the utmost ability. We never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate. We embrace justice, protecting and preserving the fundamental rights of all living creatures. Empathy and compassion are vital to us; it allows us to comprehend the wounds caused by injustice.

On a personal note, the first of the Unitarian Universalism Principles:

Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote:
•The inherent worth and dignity of every person

As far as I'm concerned, there should be no question about homosexuality. Most hatred of homosexuals is based on erroneous translations in texts of the Abrahamic religions and traditions. Because a Jedi is not required to subscribe to the views espoused by these texts, there is no issue as far as I'm concerned.

Well said, Secret Squirrel.
For the record, *some* Shadow Jedi would find asking the question "are Shadow Jedi 'Good' or 'Bad'?" pretty funny, since that defeats the whole point of balance and Shadow.

The Star Wars movies and books show a one-sided approach to things in a lot of aspects. For people who believe that Jediism is more of a new name for beliefs based on much older principles, and that Jediism pre-dates the Lucas films, this Light/Dark dichotomy doesn't apply to real life; hence Shadow Jedi.

True Pastafarians dine on spaghetti and ale at their religious gatherings. Don't forget the meatballs!

This year I have actually resolved to be more indulgent, stop worrying about every single little thing and how it affects the environment (I've been driving myself crazy the past few years - especially with everything I eat), and finally learn how to play D&D because I really don't believe I will go to hell if I do (I've gotten a few inquiries into the group I'm starting and have a couple of meetings planned).

While a couple of people I have told this to got really upset with me, these are the things I need to do - I have been too hard on myself in the past. Even Buddha couldn't survive on one grain of rice.

The funny thing is, I have done my purging (of my room and all the extra "stuff" in my house), have gotten more chores done, and cleaned more in the last few days of being easier on myself than I have in probably the last two years. I don't have class until 2 tomorrow afternoon, and I've cleaned, swept, vaccummed, organized, and done ALL of the laundry. Except for like one errant sock I found underneath the couch when I swept tonight. This house hasn't looked so good in years, and for once I don't feel guilty about what I "should" be doing. Yay!

I like to look at a candle flame. I've done this since I was 10 or so. (Okay, maybe I'm just a bit of a pyromaniac.)

Also, these days I have a station on Pandora called "Spa" - it's like Ambiance when you go to get a massage at a nice place. Now I can access Pandora on my television through my Roku (apparently Netflix has partnered with them as well as some video blog and other sites), and so far there are NO commercials on my Pandora on tv. Hopefully that will keep up. I was meditating with Pandora music off the internet before - until that Clear commercial broke in - really rattled me. :P
