Here's a link to a site that gives a good overview on some of the basics. There are a lot of do it yourself books out there on the topic.

And as I said this is just another aspect of the Living Force. Everything is energy. All energy has a vibrational pattern that effects our environment and our consciousness. It effects our homes, living and sleeping areas, and our physical and financial health. I've use it and it does work.

It's good to have positive pictures and posters in your home and plants. It's good to be aware of negative influences such as sharp edges in your living area which creates tension. It's a very involved craft which is thousands of years old.

I was given a Feng Shui book and kit for my 19th birthday. Gave the whole house a makeover the same day. I can't remember much from the book except the most obvious bits. Balance is very important and one thing I focus on. To much of a good thing is not necessarily a good thing, but to little isn't good either. I remember "warm" colors and "cold" colors as a part of Yin and Yang, the "warm" or more lively colors adding energy to a place while the "cold" or "sleeping" (as I call it because I don't want to say dead, favorite color is blue) colors tend to add calmness. Knowing what rooms to make lively and which ones to make "sleeping" is important, but to much in any one place can effect things the wrong way...

I vaguely remember directional placement as important, but I can't remember the details well enough to risk getting them wrong here. Live plants are good, dead plants should be removed ASAP, and fake plants aren't as effective but a usable substitute when living plants just won't do.

We'll be moving into a new house soon, I should really see about digging up that book before we get all our furniture and stuff placed. At least I should look this information up in full again elsewhere if need be.

Feng Shui works. I mentioned I gave the house a makeover the same day I got the book. We all felt the difference pretty quickly too.

This is a very interesting post as I've always known that the way things are placed in a home and where certain things went was a flow of positive energy I never took it as a force flow. But I understand the concept. at work I have everything at my desk in a certain order and on one side I feel very comforted and posititve and the other blank. Because on one wall I have nothing because I share a desk with someone else and we're only allowed to have one wall to put our things. Some people find it cleaner and easier to just have a blank space, but myself would much rather have things from my home like pictures and stuff to make me more comfortable and more positive for me.

Arigorn, perhaps you and your desk partner could find things of mutual interest to fill the space?

I'm doing my regular Feng Shui make over for my place and the theme is air quality. I've actually ordered an air quality monitor and have been buying plants, which they say is the best natural filtration system., plus raises the energy level of a home.

Here's some interesting reference links for those who are interested.

Awesome resources Octagon.

We have a ficus, palm, orchids, rosemary, time, and basil.
We also us essential oil aromaticly this makes for a peaceful environment that is relaxing... That is untill the boys wake up or come in screaming and yelling at eachother. Man raising two boys is rough.

Excellent plant collection. I also use essential oils mostly lemon and peppermint lately.

I sure your patience will pay off on your boys.
