As Jedi we all have fears and demons to confront and conquer. The worst fear is the fear that controls us and appears to be formless and nameless.

The worst part of fear is not being able to understand it. To not know it's name or form a picture of it or even to communicate with it so we may understand why it's there and how we can master our fear.

Here's an exercise which can be extremely helpful in mastering a fear or an inner demon. First start by giving it a form. Suppose you're afraid of telling someone how you really feel about something. Imagine yourself in a situation where you want to tell someone something but can't. Give that feeling a form, for example see it as a being a person, like Donald Trump. Now think about wanting to express yourself but Donald is there telling you that you can't. Donald says it might not be the right time or the right thing to say at this point even though you feel that it is. Now, trust your feelings and tell Mr. Trump to be quiet. Command him to be silent, remind him he's only and adviser in your life and holds no control over you. Imagine Donald Trump looks at you in a surprised way, kneels before you and and says, "Yes... my Master." At that moment feel the power you now have over Donald, and over that fear which he represents and just enjoy that moment in time. The next time you feel that emotion of fear come over you, do the exercise again. After awhile that fear, now that it has a face and a name will be easier to overcome.

The exercise brings the unknown into focus and gives you a feeling of mastery over it. Something that as repeated often, influences the subconscious mind. Thoughts create things, so as your thoughts turn from how can I master this thing to actually enjoying being master of it so will that part of your life change.

So in summary to conquer a fear or inner demon, give it a form, give it a name, imagine it making you do something you don't want to do then imagine yourself as it's master, commanding it to stop, and see it obeying your commands completely.

Please share your thoughts and feelings about this exercise.

It's almost funny, but I have been having an anxiety issue lately that I felt bad writing about because I feel it's so silly. I guess I am a bit ashamed over my predicament, as useless as that is. Figured I'd make another attempt tonight at writing about it in my journal, and first thing I see is this post.

This universe, again, putting things in motion and continiously handing us the right tools at the right times. I will give your exercise a go, Master Octagon. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, as always.

It's actually very creative! It is a bit difficult to do, though, when you have an overly racing mind, especially in the middle of an anxiety/OCD attack (which in my case are more and more rare with time fortunately), but I feel that it's worth for one, or two or more tries! Thank you for the sharing.

Hits home for me as well! I'll think about it a while and give it a try.

Thanks, Master Octagon!

Very great post, a lot of people try to ignore their fear and stray from it. But facing it head on as if it were an enemy in hopes to conquer. Thank you Master Octagon

This worked pretty darn great, actually.
I'll explain in my journal, just wanted to post here to give thumbs up on this one!

Thank you again for sharing :)

All right, I'm in. Just posted my own reflection on this exercise in my journal.

Thanks again, Master Octagon. It surprised me, and helped me break through a hefty barrier.

Welcome.

People may have noticed this as a reverse of going into a sacred place to meet and talk to your higher self.

So why not combine the two for extra energy. Sit, relax, focus on your breathing, then imagine yourself going to a sacred place. Ask yourself, how's the weather, what do you feel, what do you see, what do you smell? Go to the center of that place and meet your divine or master self or ascended self. Give thanks to that self for protecting you all these years and for guiding you to make the right decisions in life to increase your learning. Ask that self what you will. Have a conversation. When that conversation is over, thank your higher self again and ask him or her to continue to walk with you, protect you, and guide you. Then pick a fear and follow the first exercise. Have fun with it. *bows
