Can someone give a brief chronology of how the Jedi Force and Jedi Order temples split? The Order history points to a schism and ambiguous heirarchy, but I'm left confused. Thank you.

I did an assignment on it, thanks to my Master. Start on post # 124 and keep reading until the subject changes. You can also double check my sources, which I would recommend. It really helps you to see EXACTLY what happened. It's quite interesting.

So, then this temple sees Jediism as more of a philosophy than a religion?

It varies depending on who you speak to about it. Essentially, isn't a religion just another way of saying way of life? In that way, it is indeed a religion... though I prefer the term inter-faith discipline.

Personally I prefer to think of it as a spiritual and philosophical path, rather than religion. But I believe this is a matter of personal association tied to the words. I don't consider myself a religious person, but a highly spiritual one. The difference is subtle and hard to explain, but that's the way I lean on the matter. However I do not feel any judgment towards those who'd view it differently, nor do I feel that my way of seeing it is any better or worse than the perspective of another on the matter. We all have our associations and perceptions on these things, we unite on it being an important and valid way of our lives.

The first Jediism community I joined was the Jedi Church on Facebook. There it was presented very much as religion, but with empasis on the different ways people classified their Jedi path; it was very accepting regardless of which ship you preferred to sail on; be that religious, spiritual or philosophical. And here I'd say I always got the same feeling of acceptance and inclusion. There have been other communities I've been in that's put more a practical and philosophical stamp on Jediism, so this is definitely the more spiritual/religious corner for me. But I am not sure I'd say either TotJO or TotJF is the more religious one. That could though be because my time spent at the former was short.

I've seen both sites and they are very similar. I suppose it's a religion in the sense, if you're intent is to find that link back to your meaning of existence and origins. I understand our stance on it. I suppose I'm attempting to see it from all sides, one of which is another system of faith looking in. I personally could care less how they view us, but trying to explain it to someone who continues to see only slivers of the cat rather than understand that they are all part of the same whole is where the challenge lies.
