Hello, my name is Sam and I am interested in learning the ways of the Jedi. I wish to have more control over my emotions and actions, and I believe that this journey can help me with that. Prior to this I was an atheist/agnostic, so this fits well with my beliefs. I think that being a Jedi can help me with my life and lead me on to becoming a better person. I would also like to add that I am under the age of 18, so it is a while before I am the required age to become a knight. However, an attribute that I would like to develop is patience along with commitment, and I can learn to wait and familiarize myself with the Force in the mean time, by creating a Journal and becoming an initiate. Thank you very much, and please reply with any tips or advice etc.

Hello, and welcome :)

You'll find the information you need to start up training here:

http://www.templeofthejediforce.org/m ... ws/index.php?storytopic=6

Please start up a training journal and do your best to meditate on and describe, in a line-by line analysis format:

The Jedi code, The Jedi creed, The 3 Primary Tenants of Jediism, The 16 Teachings of the Jedi, and The 13 Vows of the Jedi.

Preferably try to be as elaborate as possible, even relating the theory to your everyday life, and remember that this initial stage is for us to get to know you and to connect the right mentor to the initiate. Please do pace yourself, and keep in mind that this work makes the foundation for future learning, meaning it'll be very valuable for you in the long run. You are not under any deadline to complete this aspect of your journal.

Also, please take some time to consider and answer the following questions: Who are you, and how did you find this Temple? Why do want to become a Jedi? What brought you to this conclusion?

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Make yourself at home, and don't worry about right or wrong answers :)

Force light your path,
Nira

I'm 14 years old, and I found out about this online and through my love of Star Wars. I will reintroduce myself and go into more detail in my training journal. I do have one question, and that is regarding meditation. Does anyone have any begginner meditation techniques, or can point me towards a website/thread that can help me?

Thank you very much.

I would suggest you begin your walk on this path with simple meditation. Find a quiet place and listen to your breathing. Just focus on that. It helps to think to yourself these words, "The breath goes in, the breath goes out." as you focus on this. Breathe as slow and relaxed as you can. Give it a least a few mins a day to start and go as long as you feel comfortable if you want to go past a few mins. The act of doing it everyday is more important than how long you do it at this stage.

Don't try to control your thoughts just observe them as they come and go.

Thank you, master. I shall definitely try this- I assume practice makes perfect in regards to meditation.

Try not to worry about "perfect". The way I've found it, the harder you try at meditation, the less successful you tend to be. As soon as you relax into it, it becomes a lot smoother an experience :)

So try to simply do, without concern for success or failure, and it should help a bit.

Be well,
Nira
