Greetings, I know Shi-Cho is based on kendo and Makashi is based on modern fencing, but which other form(s) of lightsaber combat is/are most realistic?

I'm not certain about the fictional forms, but I've found what little I know about Pekiti Tirsia Kali to be quite useful in light-saber sparring.

Greetings George Lucas had a martial Artist on set from what I have read he came with the sets . Most are a little fictional using the force which us mere mortals would struggle to execute .
However I did come up with a version of my own which is fairly easy to follow. You can find them in The Jedi Guardian forum. If you cannot access them I would be quite happy to repost in here if you would like to look at them :). The Katas are based on usiing a wooden oak Bokken

Hello! I find that PTK (as mentioned by master Ace) and forms of Bujutsuu are useful for Real Lightsaber combat. Typically Any tactical style of swordsmanship is able to be used in lightsaber combat.

Greetings,
Form V is based on Kenjutsu and Medieval Longsword (pretty similar aggressive forms) and Form IV, I believe is based on Shaolin sword fighting. Personally, since I am a rapier fighter, I use Makashi as my main form. MTFBWY, Jedi Grayson Dark

Hello!
I actually apply a mix between Form V, and Form I whenever I go larping. I tend to find shii-cho (form I) is for when im growing tired or when im only doing basic shots. (or when im toying with someone) I reccommend joining a group called "amtgard" if you want to get into more lightsaber-esque fighting.

I have yet to go LARPing, and may never actually go. I study martial arts, and have a hard time holding back.
My new saber design is based on 2 martial weapons I prefer to use. A Tonfa (Old Nightsticks the police used to use that had a handle on a stick that was slightly longer than the forearm) and a bo staff. Individually, I'd have 2 sabers with blades about 2ft6in long, with another 6in for the blade haft, and likely a 3in collapsible handle. Then, when I need to, I can collapse the handles and lock the blades together, giving me a saber-staff about 6ft long. This gives me a great amount of versatility. Now, if I can just build the blasted thing, lol. -Reddawg99

Learning martial arts should be teaching you how to hold back. Never use more power than necessary to end a confrontation.

I'm self-taught, and have rarely ever sparred (And was always told I hit too hard). Every fight I have been in, my opponents meant serious injury, often with blades in hand. I have simply never TRIED holding back. Might be something worth looking into.

As someone training as a Jedi, I recommend the art of the cautious. Learn to give 100%, but without giving the intent to overpower. We are members of peace, and the destruction of your technique may be leading towards another path.
