Hi all,

This might sound like a strange question but is it possible to be a Jedi and a Christian?

I have always been brought up and confirmed as a Christian but was wondering if it is possible to follow the Jedi path while still being a Christian.

If someone could fill me in on the details, I'd be most grateful.

Yes it's possible to be a Christian and a Jedi. We have had some members that were. I also remember coming across some Christian Jedi sites. Don't know if they're still up.

The biggest problem Christian Jedi face is coming to terms with the notion that God and the Force are one and that there is no separation. Do that and both concepts become as one and work together to strengthen the Christian Jedi.

The closer you are to God the more you see in everything.

Hope this helps and the best to you on your journey.

Absolutely, I actually just got done writing a 5-week course on how to determine what "the Force" is Biblically for a Jedi Seminary that will be going fully online in 2019. :)

A lot of people think that the Jedi Path is about "the Force", it's not. The Jedi Path about the way we live our lives. "The Force" plays a role, certainly, so the you should define what "The Force" is before you move forward.

"Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. We fight for justice because justice is the fundamental bedrock of civilization: an unjust civilization is built upon sand. It does not long survive a storm."
- Mace Windu, Shatterpoint

"Our religious observance is found through service to the community" -Andy Spalding, Co-Founder of Heartland Jedi (which is no longer running)

(in case you weren't sure from my post here, I am a Christian Jedi myself, and have been for at least a decade now, and a Jedi longer)

Absolutely possible, unless we talk about fundamentalist Christian people. While their image of "god" differs, the two ways of life have a lot in common, just as with lots of other religions. But as I notice, Christianity kinda "evolves" with time too, revising the earlier strict dogmas and have a more open-minded approach about everything in general. That's what I realize when i talk to my Christian acquintances recently, compared to what I experienced e.g. in my earlier childhood. While I don't consider myself belonging to any religion, this is what always I loved about the Jedi Path, that it is embracing and all-encompasing rather than exclusive.

In my Humble opinion..NO

I just don't see them as being compatible , The philosophy may well be similar but I do not believe you can worship a God and embrace the Force as being one .

We cannot tell anyone what "the Force" is, because for everyone it will be different.

In your view of what the Force is, sure, that is the case. But there are those that do not believe it's an actual "thing" or "being", but rather a metaphor or something that is created by a deity to be used. The beliefs are infinite in what you can understand of "the Force".

For some Christians, it will be the embodiment of Lucifer.

For others, it will be the Holy Spirit.

And for even more others, it is simply an energy field, it doesn't have a consciousness.

The first step in determining whether or not you feel the Jedi Path can meld with your own beliefs, is to always define for yourself what "the Force" is. Until you have that answer, you cannot truly answer this question.

This also means, we have to accept that others will reach their own conclusions. Some people will find that Jediism does not mix with Christianity because of what they interpret "The Force" to be. While others find a completely different understanding. Not because they are trying to fit things into a world view so they can pursue what they want, but rather it boils down to:

"Two people can look at the exact same evidence, and reach different conclusions."
