I dislike that it gives us a role playing group kind of feel.

For those unfamiliar with the terms:

Exp = experience points
Hp = hit points
Mp = Mana (or magic) points

From a long tenured gamer..... One who describes leaving the games as getting clean.....

HP corresponds to stamina, endurance, fortitude.
MP corresponds to intellect, wisdom, willpower.
EXP corresponds to progression, growth, development.

That being said, assigning scores to internal and external development only makes sense in terms of comparison and competition. It reduces the value of insight in favor of quantity. Effort should be recognized, but for its quality, not merely quantity. My understanding of these forums is that they intend to be mutually supportive- perhaps challenging or sparring, but never oppositionally competitive.

Daily posting as a sign of continued attention is good, but could devolve into an "I'm here, where are my points" mentality. Likewise, scoring longevity regardless of activity.

EXP could be used as an assessment system. The masters 'grading' initiates and apprentices, guiding them, and advancing them progressively. But this could begin to resemble favoritism over personal insights, where the master ranks according to subjective rather than objective expectations.

Numbers have an important role, but they are innocent. Readers and interpreters of numbers make them into facts, figures and truths. Numbers alone are incorruptible- 1 is 1, 2 is 2. It is in the valuation, the application, the installation of outside corresponding impacts that numbers are made to tell a different story.

For these reasons, I feel a vote of NO is correct. But regardless of the outcome, I will accept and adhere to the path the temple community adapts.

I believe we could look at it like this:

Exp = experience posts
Hp = helpful posts
Mp = Multitude of posts

The Level is basically just a rendition of cumulative work and time doing so.

Since I joined in 2005 at totjo and continued here after the split the current level seems to be a good way to understand how long people have been here.
Master Octagon was a Knight when I joined and was a Master shortly before I made Knight and Merin was a Master way back then as well.

I totally agree with everything that Jaspex said, was thinking about the same and for this reason, and at all, seeing little point in it, sorry guys, I voted for a no, too.

Most people are in the middle, second group is against, third group say yes.

So I'll remove based on more 'no' than 'yes' votes. Either why thanks for voting everyone.
