This relates a little to what they say about your future self. When I'm having a difficult time, I will imagine my future self after the difficulty has long past and imagine what he would say about it after it's done.

So for example, if I'm doing some hard work and feel like giving up on it. I attune to my future self. The self that has already done the event and hear him say something like, "Glad it's done, it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, in fact, it turned out to be pretty easy once it was over." That often gives me the energy to finish. So one can be mindful of the future when it enhances the present.
