I found this a long time ago and added it to the forums. I think what he's talking about can be added to our training.

Our physical and mental abilities are a part of being a Jedi but to make it to the top of the mountain as a Jedi there is a spiritual component that must be added to training that allows for true Force energy to flow and carry us over the top.

A balance of body, mind, and spirit, brings harmony victory in all that we do as Jedi. Our spiritual connection to the Force will usually tell us to go for it but the ego or mental part of us often gives into fear of the unknown and may hold us back. Knowing when to silence the mind and listen then follow the spirit will bring us a wild ride and satisfaction in the end.

Our spirit is inspirational and will silence doubts and fears and redirect our thoughts to a higher place. Spiritual energy is positive energy and if cut off will only bring worry, depression, doubts, and fear. Jedi realize they are nothing but an extension of the Living Force, which is everything.

Greatest mantra: I am Jedi, I am one with the Force and the Force is with me. My focus determines my reality for I am Jedi.

The story:
"Phædrus wrote a letter from India about a pilgrimage to holy Mount Kailas, the source of the Ganges and the abode of Shiva, high in the Himalayas, in the company of a holy man and his adherents.

He never reached the mountain. After the third day he gave up, exhausted, and the pilgrimage went on without him. He said he had the physical strength but that physical strength wasn't enough. He had the intellectual motivation but that wasn't enough either. He didn't think he had been arrogant but thought that he was undertaking the pilgrimage to broaden his experience, to gain understanding for himself. He was trying to use the mountain for his own purposes and the pilgrimage too. He regarded himself as the fixed entity, not the pilgrimage or the mountain, and thus wasn't ready for it. He speculated that the other pilgrims, the ones who reached the mountain, probably sensed the holiness of the mountain so intensely that each footstep was an act of devotion, an act of submission to this holiness. The holiness of the mountain infused into their own spirits enabled them to endure far more than anything he, with his greater physical strength, could take.

A Jedi uses the Force for nothing, and... for everything.

That is a great story with lots of room for exploration of self. It's sad he never made it but joyous that he discovered so much about himself.
