Hello everyone! My name is Veran, I was brought here to the temple through my searches for knowledge on the living force. What I hope to learn here is different perspectives on the force, it’s connection to ourselves and all life and to meet more fellow Jedi across the world. I want to become a Jedi in this temple to create positive change in the world, and to help others.

Meditations:
My interpretation and understanding of The Jedi Code

The orthodox lines:

-There is no Emotion; There is Peace.
A Jedi should not be a slave to their emotions, or let their emotions interfere with their focus on the present. Peace is attainable and healthy for the mind, while too strong of emotions can destroy it. Usually in my times of feeling intense emotion, I attain balance and peace by focusing on my breath, feeling the peaceful flow of the energy.

-There is no Ignorance; There is Knowledge.
Ignorance can be seen as a gateway to knowledge, as the master has failed many more times than the beginner has even tried. Whenever I find myself failing at something, I use it as a lesson in how not to do something, therefore turning it into a positive force.

-There is no Passion; There is Serenity.
Passion can be a very inflammatory sensation that can wreak havoc on the mind. Serenity is balance, Serenity is peace. Therefore a serene mind would be more wise to own than a passionate mind. If my feelings cloud my judgement on a certain matter , I meditate on the removal of my preference and my self from the overall situation then re analyze afterwards from that perspective to attain my goal.

-There is no Death; There is the Force.
Our bodies are made of energy (the force) and energy keeps on living after our bodies die. Once our body is deceased, our soul, our true essence becomes one with the force. I have always thought of death as a rebirth of sorts, like a butterfly emerging from it’s cocoon.

Additional lines to the Jedi Code:

-There is no Chaos: There is Harmony.
Chaos can also be looked at as harmony in the balancing process, in life all things will eventually balance out. harmony is balance.

-There is no Fear; There is Courage.
Usually if you are feeling fear, you are showing courage by being in that situation. But you should not ever let fear take you over, fear can lead to panic, which leads to much worse things.

There is no Foolishness; There is Wisdom.
As with ignorance and knowledge, through what most deem “foolishness” others may see that as wisdom in it’s own right or aspects. If you commit foolish acts, you can learn still from these mistakes and improve yourself.

Very good start with the Code interpretations! I have a few questions, though. Not to argue on your interpretations, just being curious about your views in more detail.

Here it goes, the first line 'There is no Emotion, There is
Peace.'
While being careful to stay focused and not to be controlled by the emotions, how do you avoid getting to the other side of the fence? Some people (in and outside of Jedi Community, too) equates this to the pursuit of being emotionless, which, of course, is not possible but the pursuit itself is unhealthy, too, and sometimes not even conscious. How does one seek a healthy balance between extremes?

What is the meaning of 'passion' to you? Is all kind of passion harmful or is there good passion too in your interpretation? Or is it one type of energy which can potentially lead to negative or positive consequences?

Love this, very well said!

Mind that there are no wrong answers to my questions. Again, it's just curiosity.

Thank you guys! And Sinistra to answer your questions:
1: To find the healthy balance between extremes, I personally have payed attention to when my extremes can start reaching too high , I then start breathing exercises until it balances my mind out and clears my head enough to make just and sound decisions.

2: I view passion as a double edged sword, being a musician I have learned that there is healthy passion ( drive and motivation to continue or start a journey or task) and unhealthy passion which I have noticed is almost blinding to some people, who invest so much passion that they forget to concentrate on the present moment to achieve the goal they are passionate about. So I do believe passion can be both a positive or negative feeling or emotion depending on how well you can keep yourself in check!

My thoughts on “The Jedi Creed”:

-I am a Jedi, an instrument of peace.
As a Jedi, it is our duty to promote peacefulness to our societies and our world. Anger and hatred do not solve anything, they only create more pain. Numerous times in my life, I have helped diffuse dangerous and bad situations peacefully with no further harms happening to any parties involved all with simple words and actions. Peacefulness is a key to happiness.

-Where there is hatred I shall bring love;
Hatred blinds and binds those that are enveloped by it’s power. Love , on the other hand is pure, natural energy that has a healing power over all beings. Personally the power of love has positively changed my life for the better, making me a better person and a more compassionate person at that.

-Where there is injury, pardon;
Where one person may strike me, it may be due to their own issues and have nothing to do with myself. Therefore the first thought should not always be to strike back, but to analyze and possibly inquire into the feelings and thoughts of the other person. At one of my past jobs, multiple times I would have people be disrespectful in very harsh manners, but usually it would be resolved by a short conversation. No harsh actions needed , just a bit of forgiveness and understanding.

-Where there is doubt, faith;
Doubt may arise easily in the mind when facing difficult tasks or odds, but you should never fret or panic. Have faith in the cause that be, for positive mindsets have been proven to affect positive change in the physical and mental realms. Have faith even when it may seem the darkest.

-Where there is despair, hope;
Hope is a great and powerful force , it has brought armies to the ground, nations to their feet and positive change to the universe. As a Jedi, we must always instill hope in others , they may seem lost but they can be helped as any person can return from the deepest despair with a little bit of hope.

-Where there is darkness, light;
Darkness in nature is the absence of light, if we bring our light to the darkness, it will cease to exist. Jedi will always be the guiding light for the universe, the brightest star in a dark sky. Whenever I have friends that are down and out, I encourage them with good times to remind them that there is always light!

-And where there is sadness, joy.
Sadness can really harm and hurt a person mentally and physically, since it is a negative energy. Joy (like light in darkness) can bring anyone away from the embrace of sadness, for there is no reason to be sad. Instead be appreciative of all the good there is: the beautiful sky, the breeze, the stars at night... looking for positives in the negative is a good trait that Jedi as well as anyone else should develop to keep themselves happy! I personally enjoy helping others who are sad , for there is nothing more beautiful than a smiling face.

I am a Jedi.

-I shall never seek so much to be consoled as to console;
As Jedi we should be helping others around us in agony or despair, seeking to help the person feel better or help them instead of inwardly thinking of our own interest first.

-To be understood as to understand;
We should not always be trying to prove ourselves, instead we should be focusing on understanding so that we may learn more about life , the force, etc. to better our planet and universe.

-To be loved as to love;
Striving for affection is a road that will more often than not, leave you feeling empty, sad or alone. We should spread the love we already have, for love is the key to life and living.

-For it is in giving that we receive;
Giving to someone is always a very positive action, it involves both positive thoughts and positive reactions which is good on both ends, never do things with the intention of receiving because of your actions though, as that is a shadow of greed

-It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
Pardoning a transgression can teach you something about yourself, which is positive, therefore pardoning can help yourself AND the other party. Treat others as you wish to be treated!

-And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
The subject of Dying makes us feel sad, and confused or scared even. Yet when we die, our body’s natural energy (force) becomes one with the natural force again, which is a very beautiful and poetic transfer into another world. It should be celebrated ! Although it is still sad that you feel like you are losing this person, they will always be with you through the force (energy) which you and I are made of as well. I personally used to fear death, now I accept it as a reality for all, and that it is just the next step in my evolution.

-The Force is always with me, for I am a Jedi.
The force is everywhere, in all things and around all things. It is also in you and me. We are force filled beings, eternally luminous. As a Jedi we celebrate, study and practice all aspects of the force. It is not special to only the Jedi either. Every person , everywhere and everything is connected to the force.

My thoughts on The 3 Primary Tenets of Jediism:

Focus:
Jedi should remain focused, for we are more able to fully perform our duty when we are of sound mind. A sound mind is a successful mind.

Knowledge:
A Jedi’s journey includes a journey for knowledge, for once you gain knowledge, no one can take that from you. Even the slightest bit of information learned could save a life or many lives one day. Knowledge is an important foundation for life.

Wisdom:
Wisdom can be bestowed upon oneself after experiencing and experimenting with different facets of life. It can be a very sharp tool in a Jedi arsenal. Wisdom is something earned I would say, but then I would question, if something is not in a light or dark manner; who is to say if it is wise or not?
